Peña Boulevard Bridges

Denver, Colorado

Tsiouvaras Simmons Holderness was responsible for designing two bridges at Denver International Airport. One of the bridges carries Peña Boulevard outbound from the terminal and the other carries a service road that is being used to construct the new South Terminal and RTD rail station. The bridges were designed and constructed under a highly accelerated schedule to get the bridges open in time for the South Terminal’s construction to begin. The design began in Dec 2009 with 30% plans completed in one month and final design documents completed two months later. The bridges were complete and open to traffic by September 2010, just 5 months after construction began.

  • Designed two bridges to accommodate both heavy earthmoving equipment as well as standard loads
  • Designed the longest single-span bulb-T bridge in the state of Colorado
