Washington Street over SH 58

Golden, Colorado

This project in Golden required design services for the reconstruction of a tight diamond interchange with the replacement of the bridge carrying Washington Street over SH 58. The site constraints included fixed ROW, a steep profile grade, and substandard clearance with very little tolerance for profile adjustments. Tsiouvaras Simmons Holderness developed an economical design that corrected the existing substandard clearance over SH 58 without significant adjustment to the existing profiles. The design included careful attention to construction phasing that allowed for maintaining traffic on both Washington and SH 58 during construction. In addition to the main precast box girder bridge and main roadway, twin steel truss-arch bridges were designed by TSH to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists for the City of Golden.

  • Designed a two-span side-by-side prestressed concrete girder roadway bridge
  • Designed MSE abutments to reduce costs associated with tall abutments on deep foundations
