I-225 Reconstruction from Parker to Mississippi

Tsiouvaras Simmons Holderness is currently providing a Project Engineer and three inspectors for this $43 million joint CDOT/RTD project in Region 1. This team is responsible for administering the contract in accordance with CDOT, RTD and FHWA specifications and managing a blended construction team of 10 CDOT/Consultant employees. The project includes construction of a 9-span 1,135 LF direct fixation Light Rail Train Bridge over I-225 as well as completion of the Light Rail Train envelope up to sub-ballast between Parker Road and Iliff Avenue. The existing Yale bridge over I-225 was replaced with a 2-span prestressed concrete U-girder structure. Additional structures work includes construction of a top-down caisson wall with 670 caissons, cast-in-place concrete ballast walls, MSE walls, sound walls, and ground nailed walls. Roadway work includes widening of 4 miles of I-225 with concrete pavement to accommodate three lanes in each direction and an additional auxiliary lane. Drainage elements include water quality treatment facilities/manholes and 3.5 miles of storm sewer pipe and structures. The project is currently scheduled for completion in Summer 2014.
