US 285 Reconstruction Design-Build

Denver, Colorado

Tsiouvaras Simmons Holderness teamed with Concrete Express Inc. to provide complete design–build services for the reconstruction of 4.7 miles of US 285. TSH was responsible for the design of six bridges, rehabilitation of seven bridges, and roadway reconstruction design between Kipling Street and Federal Boulevard. The roadway design included both asphalt and concrete reconstruction for alignment shifts to accommodate new structures and filling in the median while maximizing the limits of the overlay on the existing pavement structure. To reduce the traffic impacts along this well-traveled roadway, TSH designed highly refined detours and detailed traffic control plans to ease impacts during construction. In addition to the design work, TSH provided construction services that included a complete construction quality assurance program with construction observation and oversight management of materials testing.
