North Meadows Extension

Castle Rock, Colorado

Tsiouvaras Simmons Holderness was the prime consultant for the North Meadows Extension project. The substantial topography in the project area required that the new arterial and associated drainage facilities drop over 200 ft. in elevation for this two-mile urban arterial roadway. The project included a trumpet interchange and a two-lane roundabout at I-25 and an elevated single point urban interchange (SPUI) at US 85. TSH applied Context-Sensitive Solutions design principles to blend the new roadway through an area of steep grades and scenic viewsheds. The design scope also included drainage and bridge design, construction phasing, traffic control and utilities.

  • Designed approximately 2 miles of 2 lane major urban arterial that can be expanded to 4 lanes in the future
  • Designed two complex interchanges including a Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) and a modified partial cloverleaf
  • Designed a roundabout that can accommodate current traffic and be expanded in the future
