Broadway Transportation Improvements - Euclid to 18th

Boulder, Colorado

Tsiouvaras Simmons Holderness served as the prime consultant for this $7 million multi-modal intersection reconfiguration in downtown Boulder. TSH developed concepts for addressing a pedestrian crossing at an intersection serving the University of Colorado (CU) and an adjacent transit stop. The split intersection concept for Broadway and Euclid addressed the traffic operations issue and resulted in the best pedestrian underpass location to serve most users and allow the largest open areas at each end of the underpass. TSH designed the underpass structure, retaining walls, and roadway modifications to Broadway and the Euclid, 16th, and 18th intersections.

  • Improved safety and accessibility for multi-modal users of this congested area of Boulder
  • Won WTS Colorado’s Big Project of the Year for 2012
  • Vehicular improvements for the 30,000 cars 1280 buses, and many pedestrian and cyclist users that use these intersections every day
