Grand Avenue Bridge Replacement

Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Tsiouvaras Simmons Holderness is leading the engineering and is a subconsultant to Jacobs Engineering for the replacement of the Grand Avenue bridge in downtown Glenwood Springs, CO. TSH’s role includes project management, bridge and structural design, roadway alternatives, hydrology, traffic, environmental assessment, and post-design services. TSH designed the storm sewer to integrate with existing outfalls to the Colorado River to reduce construction costs by eliminating new bores. Water quality design has required collaboration between the City of Glenwood Springs and CDOT outside of the MS4 required area. A water quality pond was incorporated into the design treating new and existing impervious areas. The water quality treatment provided treats an equivalent area of over 90% of the project impervious area.
